- The hemozoin diagnostic development project (email: info@veerlabs.com, listserve: hemozoin@googlegroups.com)
- Some editing basics:
To do
Immediate:
- Zac is buying piezo crystals tonight, arrival this weekend and sensitivity tests early next week
- We will standardize protocol for microscope and re-run experiment from last week next week (min. two people plus Naman?)
- Get rough parasitemia curve from this new run
- Noise floor experiment
- Sensitivity/specificity results – not too large a sample size, just something presentable
In October:
- Review materials on Thor Labs, determine which components we should/can buy to build microscope
- Formally write up introduction/rationale
- Formally write up article section on device design (microcontroller/circuitry/optics/etc.)
- Formally write up section on crystal identification algorithm
- Formally write up experimental results
- Prepare poster for Grameen Health
- Prepare questionnaire/survey for preliminary “market analysis” at the conference
Grameen Health:
- Sheel will attend the entire conference if he is not in Cambridge yet
- Zac will attend Sunday
- Shaddi Monday
- Eric Tuesday
- Naman and Andrew?
In November
- Have piezoelectric stage and autofocus algorithm ready for testing
- Begin integrating everything into a Digital Signal Processor (DSP)
- Repeat with much larger number of repeats for same measurables (parasitemia curve, noise floor, sensitivity/specificity)
- Prepare second prototype with Thor Labs components
- Prepare lab prototype for more scientific and exact biophysical analysis of hemozoin (still in the works?)
Grants
- Duke Start-Up Challenge - 2008 (won)
- Carolina Challenge - March 19th, 2009 (won)
- Gates Grand Challenges - May 28th (denied)
- UNC OUR Funding - Rolling (ineligible)
- Next?
